A lovely flask-shaped basket by Tanabe Chikuunsai II (1910-2000). Chikuunsai II made this basket in the studio he inherited from his father, which he was unfortunately forced to abandon in 1943 due to the war. After the war he built a new studio and eventually took on several apprentices, but in the early years he was alone in the studio, entirely dedicated to defining himself as an artist, and made many of his finest works.
